An informal discussion between members of Yorkshire and Humber Regional Planning Board. 5th March 2010, LGYH, Wakefield.
Notes provided for YHREF by Nick Sandford (Woodland Trust).
Notes provided by John Hoare (CPRE), February 2010.
There was one major item on this agenda, the Regional Fund Allocation programme management.
Notes provided by John Hoare (CPRE).
The RTAB met on Friday 22 January for a double bill. In the morning the first ‘Stakeholder Event’ was held; this replaces the former Regional Transport Forum, which was the Assembly’s wider reference group. The intention was and is similar, to give a broad constituency of those interested in and involved with transport to meet, be informed about what is going on, have a chance to comment and put forward ideas and network.
Includes coverage of a paper that presented an overview on how regional planning work is being done differently under the new arrangements. Other topics covered include IRS sub regional planning assessments, infrastructure planning, and ensuring the future supply of minerals aggregates.
It was pointed out that, under the old arrangements, the then Regional Planning
Board felt like the owners of the Regional Spatial Strategy , but that it was clear that it
was the Joint Regional Board (JRB) who would own the Integrated Regional Strategy
(IRS). The question then is, what is the focus of the SPB? Chris Martin told members to
think of the Board as “the spatial element”....
Much of the business concerned setting the scene for the changed situation, with Yorkshire Forward in charge and the as yet unclear relationship with strengthened sub-regions. The agreed terms of reference are sufficiently wide for the board to discuss and advise on any consultations and developments related to transport.
