Yorkshire and Humber needs to be at the forefront in tackling the greatest environmental threats faced by mankind - climate change and biodiversity loss. YHEF provides the focal point for a wide range of organisations to come together to provide innovative solutions to these problems and a united voice for the environmental and social movements. That's why Friends of the Earth is proud to be an active member of YHEF and offer our full support in developing its valuable work. Simon Bowens
The R
SPB is proud to be working with the YHEF, which is a powerful force in driving up the environmental performance of the Yorkshire and Humner. RSPB believes that nature is amazing and we aim to keep it that way by working with the YHEF to champion an approach to environment which increases the environment to support society. This means things like improving habitat connectivity, reducing our reliance on hard flood defences, being more resilient to extreme weather, improving water and air quality.
Some of the projects which we are currently working on which reflect this includes work in the Humberhead Levels, Dearne Valley and Lower Aire Valley. Lucy Bjorck
CPRE Yorkshire & Humber has been pleased to support YHEF since the very start. It provides us with a crucial link to the region's decision-making bodies, and strengthens the voice of the environmental organisations in the region.
YHEF's priorities closely tie in with CPRE's own work as we campaign to make our vision for the future of the countryside a reality. In particular, we share many goals regarding landscape protection, the importance of local character to place-shaping and making better use of the capacity of the region's environmental assets. The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. Our key objectives include protection of woodland , creation of new woodland and increasing people’s enjoyment and appreciation of woodland. In Yorkshire and Humber, we own 85 sites covering 600 hectares.
Woods and trees are crucial to sustaining life on our planet and in the face of climate change their importance has never been greater. In Yorkshire and Humber woodland covers only 6% of the land area, which is only half the average for the UK, so enhancement and expansion of the region’s woodland is a crucial issue. Through the YHEF and other mechanisms we are keen to work with regional stakeholders to influence policy and to deliver woodland creation throughout the region. Nick Sandford
