Joint Regional Board
A Joint Regional Board, made up of the LGYH Leaders' Board and Yorkshire Forward Board Members (established in July 2009) has responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of the new single Integrated Regional Strategy (IRS). This will replace the Regional Spatial Strategy and the Regional Economic Strategy. Until new legislation is introduced, it will also be designated as the Regional Planning Board.
Thematic Boards
The four thematic regional boards in spatial planning, regeneration and housing, work and skills; and transport will also have a key role to play in the development of the IRS. Each Chair and Vice Chair will be a Local Authority Leader or a Yorkshire Forward Board Member or nominee. Other members will include representatives from the FSRs, local authority councillors, stakeholders and agencies with expertise or an interest in the work or the Boards.
Yorkshire Forward will provide secretariat support for the Joint Regional Board, the Work and Skills Board and the Transport Board and associated networks. LGYH will support the Housing and Regeneration Board and the Spatial Planning Board, along with associated networks.
In addition, arrangements for an Independent Board looking at sustainable development issues are still being developed following consultation across the region.
Spatial Planning
Nick Sandford (NickSandford@woodlandtrust.org.uk) is the environment sector rep on the LGYH Spatial Planning Board.
Transport Board
Anthony Rae (ar@anthonyrae.com) is the environmental sector representative on the new LGYH Regional Transport Board and John Hoare (kyloe@jhoare.plus.com) has been similarly accepted as the 'passenger user' representative.
