This week's Website of the Web is Sheffield Renewables (www.sheffieldrenewables.org.uk) - a social enterprise formed by a group of local volunteers with an aim is to develop renewable energy schemes in and around Sheffield. If you would like to nominate a regional or local site with an environmental flavour please contact info@yhref.org.uk.
Sheffield Renewables was formed by a group of local volunteers in late 2007. Our aim is to develop renewable energy schemes in and around Sheffield. We want to do this in a way which brings benefits to both the city and its people.
Sheffield Renewables is all about working together and making a difference. We are proud of our city. We enjoy living and working here. However, we don't want our lifestyles to cost us the earth. We want Sheffield to move with the times and we're doing our bit to make this happen.
We are are deeply concerned about climate change and also by the threat of depleting oil reserves. Concerted action is required. We need to adapt our lifestyles and adopt new technologies. Expanding our supplies of low carbon renewable energy is a crucial step.
You may have already noticed that change is in the air. All sorts is happening: whether it is to do with transport, buildings, energy, food or lifestyles. Some changes are small, some changes are big - but together they add to the growing momentum, driving Sheffield towards a low carbon future.
There are many ways for us all to play our part. Getting involved with Sheffield Renewables is one of them.
