| Topic | Greenhouse Gas Emissions & Climate Change Sustainable Development Environment |
This week's Website of the Web is the SYCCN (South Yorkshire Climate Change Network). If you would like to nominate a regional or local site with an environmental flavour please contact info@yhref.org.uk
Use the South Yorkshire CO2 calculator to find out your carbon footprint - www.syclimateaction.co.uk
You are able to take your CO2 footprint calculation based on either your energy bills or what you use.
If everyone in the world consumed resources as we do in the UK we would need THREE planets to support us.
Your carbon footprint is the measure of the impact your activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gasses produced in your day-to-day activities through burning fossil fuels or electricity, heating and transportation etc.
Did you know... The UK's carbon footprint is 648 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) each year equating to an average of 10 tonnes of CO2 each year per person.
Did you know... in Yorkshire each of us produces around 11.5 tonnes of CO2 each year through energy consumption in the home, at work and transport.
We all have the capacity and opportunity to reduce our footprint to a sustainable level, easing the burden on the environment and potentially saving money.
