Stuck in the snow? Webby treats from YHREF.

Topic Environment Quality of Life

Like so many people, YHREF found themselves snowed in over the Christmas holidays. At first we spent our time making wholesome soups but there is only so much soup one can make / consume and so we took to browsing the interweb instead.

The goodies that we found were....

www.zerocarbonhouse.com - Michael Rea has built a zero carbon house on Britain’s most northerly island of Unst.

www.imeasure.org.uk - imeasure was developed by researchers at the Environmental Change Institute to create a tool that gives people the control to easily monitor their real energy use and carbon emissions so they can identify energy saving that works for them.

www.co2sense.org.uk - Helping businesses and organisations across the region cut waste, cut emissions and drive growth.

www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/giles_coren/article6981487.ece - "If I hear another global warming joke, I’ll go completely insane. Climate change doesn’t mean we’ll have lots of lovely weather all the time, you numbskulls." Giles Coren in the Times.

www.informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/climate-change-deniers-vs-the-consensus - Ideas, issues and knowledge visualised. An interesting online tool used here to illustrate the Climate Deniers vs. Consensus arguement.

www.britishbee.org.uk - The BBKA works to promote bees and beekeeping and to provide a range of member services to beekeepers in the UK.

What did you stumble across whilst hiding at home?
