As discussed at the last Professional Ethics Network (PEN) meeting we are organising a national conference in partnership with the UK Inter-Professional Group (UKIPG).

The event aims to bring together different professional groups to critically consider:

  • The responsibility of professions to work in the public interest.
  • The public perception of professions.
  • Issues of accountability, responsibility, integrity, communication.

We are pleased to announce that Sir Philip Mawer, the Prime Minster's Independent Adviser on Ministers' interests and formerly Chairman of the Standards in Public Life Committee, will present the opening keynote in which he will examine the topical concern of public trust in the professions. This will be followed by a series of interactive workshops addressing a range of ethical concerns from across the professions.

The day will conclude with a keynote address on trust in the financial sector presented by Professor Chris Cowton, Dean of Huddersfield Business School and Editor of Business Ethics: A European Review.
